After dealing with shoulder problems in the lead-up to spring training, veteran star Justin Verlander announced on Wednesday that he is behind schedule. Verlander acknowledged that he was running a few weeks behind schedule with his throwing regimen and expressed uncertainty about his readiness for Opening Day.
According to MLB.com’s Brian McTaggart, Verlander stated, “I’m a little bit behind schedule now.” “I had a small setback early on, but it worked itself out. However, I need to be extremely careful about how I’m strengthening up. I suppose that at 40, my body reacts differently than it did when I was 25. I’m running a few weeks behind.
