UPDATE:::With the retirement of the Philadelphia Eagles icon Jason Kelce, there is a bidding war on television.

The NFL has never seen anything quite like the Eagles' warp-speed collapse | Philadelphia Eagles | The Guardian

Since announcing his retirement from the NFL earlier this month, Jason Kelce has had numerous offers from TV networks, with four prominent broadcasters among them.

Jason Kelce has four TV networks battling for his services

Four TV networks are vying for the services of Philadelphia Eagles veteran Jason Kelce, who recently announced his retirement from the NFL.

After spending 13 years at Lincoln Financial Field and having one of the best offensive line careers in recent memory, the star announced his retirement earlier this month. The 36-year-old won the Super Bowl in 2018 and was selected six times to the first team of the All-Pros.

Following the Eagles’ unexpected loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wildcard round of the playoffs, Kelce confirmed his decision to retire in an emotional press conference. Though it appears that his football career is far from done, as he is being pursued by almost all of the major networks to be a broadcaster for the upcoming season.

The Athletic reports that ESPN, NBC, CBS and Amazon Prime Video are all trying to secure a deal for the 36 year old to join their teams next season. FOX is reportedly not in the race. ESPN has made a particularly “aggressive” move, with plans for Kelce to join its Monday Night Football coverage, likely taking over from former Washington Redskins and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Robert Griffin III.

Jason Kelce, along with his brother and Kansas City Chiefs superstar Travis Kelce, has become a beloved figure in America over the past year. This is largely due to their successful “New Heights” podcast and Travis’s relationship with Taylor Swift, which has catapulted them into mainstream fame.

Jason appeared as a guest on Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime Video the previous season. But it appears that ESPN believes his charm and abilities would work better on an analysis panel than as a color commentator.

Saquon Barkley tried to convince Jason Kelce to come out of retirement and re-join the Eagles

The news of Jason’s potential TV career comes as new Eagles running back Saquon Barkley urged him to reconsider his retirement decision. The former New York Giants star expressed his excitement about joining the Eagles on “New Heights” this week.

He said: “I’m like a kid in a candy store. I’m happy. I got a fresh start. I can’t wait to meet everybody and just go out there and play ball,”. In response to Kelce’s comment that his old team will be fun to watch next season, Barkley hinted at wanting the future Hall of Famer to return for another season. He said: “You don’t gotta watch it, you know.”

Jason has confessed that he’ll miss not being able to play alongside the two-time Pro Bowler. “So you know Saquon is entering a good situation in Philadelphia,” he said. “Social media has been non-stop saying, ‘Jason you sure you want to retire? ‘”.

“And I’m like yeah I’m pretty positive even though you know I’m a little bit upset how we waited ’til I retired to make a move like [signing Barkley] but you know it’s fine, it’ll work out great.”

Leicester City sack boss Willie Kirk after probe into alleged relationship with player

Willie Kirk has been relieved of his duties by Leicester City after the Women’s Super League club conducted an internal investigation into an alleged relationship with a player

Leicester City have sacked their women’s team manager Willie Kirk after investigating an alleged relationship with a player.

Kirk was suspended earlier in March, with the club issuing a statement which said he was “assisting the club with an internal process”. His assistant Jennifer Foster and first-team coach Stephen Kirby have overseen the past three matches and will now continue temporary charge until a replacement is found.

Leicester said in a statement: “Following an extensive internal disciplinary process and respecting the club’s obligations to individual privacy, Willie was determined to have breached the team’s code of conduct to a degree that makes his position untenable.

“Established and implemented ahead of the start of the current season, the code forms part of the club’s ongoing commitment to professionalising the women’s game since the takeover of LCFC Women in 2020, promoting a performance-led culture among players, coaches and technical staff.”

The 45-year-old joined Leicester in July 2022 as their director of football before stepping in to become manager in November after Lydia Bedford left. The team are ninth in the Women’s Super League and have lost their last two matches, against Tottenham and Brighton. However, they are in the semi-finals of the FA Cup where they will face Spurs on April 14.

Kirk’s sacking follows the dismissal of Jonathan Morgan by Sheffield United in February for an alleged relationship with a player during his time at Leicester. England manager Sarina Wiegman believes that relationships between a manager and a player should not be allowed. “I think player-coach relationships are very inappropriate,” she said this week. “I think we should not accept that. That’s not healthy. That is basically what it is. I think in our environment, it’s a professional environment, it is all about performing and it should always be safe.

“Things can happen but it’s inappropriate and we all should be very aware of that. It is common sense. We all know that if we are in this environment, that is really inappropriate. I think if we all take our responsibility, then things wouldn’t happen.”

Manager-player relationships are “inappropriate,” according to Chelsea manager Emma Hayes, and Aston Villa manager Carla Ward expressed a similar opinion when questioned about the matter earlier this month. “Player protection is our job and duty,” she declared.

“So to cross that line is unacceptable and it can’t happen. It makes me very angry because we’re here to set an environment, a comfortable place where people come to work, where they feel safe. I just don’t understand anyone who crosses that line.”

Bristol City head coach Lauren Smith said: “It is still a position of power between coaches and players and there is no grey area. It’s unacceptable and it shouldn’t happen. I believe it’s a sackable offence. That goes not just for the head coach position – it’s a position of power within the staffing team.”
